Service Pack 1 for P-CAD 2002 released today

SYDNEY, Australia – June 18, 2003 – Altium Limited (ASX: ALU), a leading developer of Windows-based electronic design and development software, today announced the release of Service Pack 1 for P-CAD 2002 users. The service pack provides a major upgrade to P-CAD 2002 with new CAM and simulation bonus technologies and significant enhancements. In line with Altium’s non-restrictive update policy, Service Pack 1 is available free of charge to all P-CAD 2002 customers.

    DXP bonus technologies
Altium’s proprietary Design Explorer (DXP) technology integration platform represents the next step in technology innovation for the P-CAD product line. Since the PC was first used for design automation, P-CAD has been synonymous with PCB design expertise and high quality PCB layout tools. Service Pack 1 brings DXP technology to P-CAD 2002 Suite customers by giving them access to CAMtastic DXP, the latest version of Altium’s complete CAM verification and editing system, and a new DXP-based mixed-signal circuit simulator. These two new DXP technologies are fully integrated with P-CAD 2002 and provide a major upgrade to P-CAD’s CAM and circuit simulation capabilities.

    CAMtastic DXP
CAMtastic DXP is a major update to CAMtastic 2000 and will provide P-CAD 2002 designers with a more sophisticated CAD/CAM tool solution for PCB fabrication. Time-to-market constraints dictate that the transfer from design to manufacturing be as smooth as possible. CAMtastic DXP has been specifically developed to facilitate this data transfer and will save designers time by ensuring designs are error free and completely ready for efficient fabrication and assembly. CAMtastic DXP’s new features include bi-directional ODB++ support, additional DRCs for strengthened data verification, advanced panelization, and extensive numerically controlled drill and rout features.

    New mixed-signal circuit simulator
The ease and flexibility of analyzing circuit simulation results has been greatly increased by the many enhancements in the new mixed-signal circuit simulator. The post processing of simulation data has been enhanced to give more flexibility in the way that waveforms and plots can be arranged displayed and analyzed. Pole-Zero analysis has been added to the array of simulation options, and enhancements to the copy to clipboard function now remove the need to take screen dumps. The data exporting has also been enhanced to make it easier for designers to further analyze their simulation data in external programs or spreadsheets. Extensive updates have been made the to SimView server to make simulation results easier to view.

    New support for cutouts
With Service Pack 1, Altium has added support for cutouts in patterns in the PCB layout editor. This new feature will improve pattern support and save significant design time. Service Pack 1 also improves the stability of P-CAD 2002 and provides better flexibility and enhanced performance.

AutoVue, a widely-used visualization and collaboration tool in the architectural, engineering and construction marketplaces, is targeting EDA in its lastest release. AutoVue version 17.1 from Cimmetry Systems adds support for pc-board layout and schematic formats, along with features such as cross-probing.

AutoVue lets users view and collaborate on product data including 3D casings and parts, electronic boards and chips, text-based bills of material (BOMs), and 2D manufacturing drawings. It supports real-time collaboration, and is available as a Windows desktop application or a thin client-server based solution for Windows or Unix platforms.

Altium Limited (ASX: ALU), a leading developer of Windows-based electronics design software, today announced the release of P-CAD(R) 2004, Altium's PCB design system for layout professionals. Offering over 50 new and enhanced features, this version offers upgraded technologies for layout and automatic and interactive routing, improved support for CAM file editing and circuit simulation, as well as a host of enhancements designed to give greater power and control over the PCB design process.

Altium's P-CAD PCB design system has a proven track record of reliability and productivity, and P-CAD 2004 introduces a host of new technologies that build on the strengths of previous versions. Most notable is a powerful new interactive Advanced Route tool that significantly enhances the interactive routing process and allows users to automatically plow around board objects. Advanced Route enables designers to start routing from any net object, regardless of grid or connection line position. Designers can choose to hug the routing around existing objects, plow around copper pours, board edges, cutouts and keepouts, as well as move existing traces and vias. Designers also have complete control over all interactive routing features, including the level of "glossing" or trace cleanup the tool attempts during interactive routing.

Altium's second-generation Situs(TM) Topological Autorouter boosts routing productivity even further. It integrates seamlessly with the P-CAD PCB editor and features topological path mapping to improve completion rates on complex boards. The Situs Topical Autorouter offers native routing support for non-orthogonal geometries, such as those found with high-density BGA devices and rotated components. Unlike traditional shape-based routers, Situs searches directly for routing paths in non-orthogonal directions. The router then chooses paths more intelligently, and makes better use of routing real estate on dense board designs.

    PCB Layout

Extensive updates have been made to the SimView server to make simulation results easier to view.
I ask is there any automatic way in this program to do this?
or is there other programs can make this?

AutoVue claims support for over 200 native formats. In the new 17.1 release, AutoVue supports layouts and schematics from PCB CAD systems including Mentor Graphics BoardStation, PADs and Design Architect; Cadence Design Systems Allegro; Zuken Cadstar and Altium P-CAD 2002. It also supports the GDS II IC layout format.

New EDA-related features include cross-probing between layouts and schematics, searching and highlighting components and nets, querying for entity properties and attributes, generating BOMs, measuring minimum distances, viewing 3D PCBs, and dynamic control of layer visibility, order and color.
